Christian World Service (CWS) is seeking expressions of interest from persons who would be interested in being a member of its Board. 
Ideal person profile
First and foremost: an empathy and understanding for the mission and purpose of Christian World Service and respect for its theological perspective, its history and ecumenical nature.
For this vacancy we are looking for candidates who have experience in marketing and fundraising.
The basic skills are: 
•Understanding of the role of a Board member and the responsibilities of governance of a charitable trust
•Able to respect boundaries between governance and management (staff or day to day) 
•Ability to think strategically without becoming involved in detail 
•Ability to work with others as part of a team
•Listening skills
•Problem solving skills
•Decision making skills
•Numeracy
•An understanding of current development trends, discussions and debates, globally and locally, would be an advantage. 
The Christian World Service Board consist of no less than 8 and no more than 12 members.  Board members shall hold office for a term of three years with a possible extension for a further three year period.  The Board meets six times a year of which at least two meetings are ‘face to face’ and it is comprised of persons nominated by partner churches and those who have the desired skills and expertise relevant to the work of Christian World Service. There is no remuneration for this role. 
Christian World Service (CWS) is the justice aid and development agency of New Zealand Churches.  It works with local partners in developing countries and provides assistance when disasters strike. CWS advocates for action on poverty, peace and justice.  It respects and responds to need regardless of race or religion.
