Families Need Urgent Assistance
Turkey and Syria were struck by a major earthquake in the early hours of February 6, 2023 local time. Thousands of buildings have collapsed. Snow has fallen. Many people have lost their lives and been injured in the devastating quakes.
The initial 7.8 magnitude earthquake was followed by severe aftershocks in the southeast of Turkey and northwest Syria.
People are urgently in need of food, shelter and medical assistance.
Life was already hard. Many people had escaped conflicts and were extremely vulnerable. More than 4 million people were dependent on relief aid before the quakes. About three-quarters of the people living in Syria’s Idlib province had fled fighting in other parts of the country.
The people need protection from the bitterly cold winter and cholera. The prices of food and fuel are rising fast.
They need practical assistance to survive.
If you can, please donate today.
