Christian World Service congratulates the first responders to this year’s Operation Refugee challenge and thanks everyone who has supported efforts to raise funds.
Most challengers chose to do the Winter Walk. CWS Board member Kate Boardman organised a cosy movie night with food for her church community.
So far Operation Refugee has received more than $6,000 in donations for refugees from Afghanistan, Palestine, Syria and Ukraine.
“We encourage more people to take on the challenge to help record numbers of people who have been forced from their homes by persecution and war. Many refugees are having a very hard time at the moment. If you can, please make a donation or sign up for the fundraising challenge,” says Murray Overton, National Director.
Dunedin’s C & Q Youth Group is planning a Winter Walk later this month and would love you to support them!
Operation Refugee will run until August 30. It was launched on World Refugee Day, June 20.
Refugee numbers continue to rise – an estimated 110 million people were displaced by May this year.
CWS is grateful for the steady stream of donations to Operation Refugee and to individuals and churches who marked Refugee Sunday. Please let us know if your church took part, stories to share or if you have any feedback.
