Methodist and Presbyterian Women are focusing on Family Well-being in the Pacific for their annual special project.
This year’s Special Project begins with the words from John 3:16, ‘For God so loved the world’. Methodist and Presbyterian women have reflected on what is happening and responded with a focus on the Pacific.
Promoting Pacific Well-being in Covid Times begins with our whanau and neighbours in Fiji, who have been most affected. Funds raised will go to SEEP (Social Empowerment and Education Programme) for their Covid response with rural and urban communities. Staff have distributed emergency supplies and kept in close contact 48 communities who thanks to their support have so far avoided the virus and domestic violence.
The next step in their Covid recovery plan is to train selected women who are struggling more than most to run community canteens in the rural areas and informal settlements. Their Livelihood Hand-up Project will bolster family incomes and improve their well-being.
The Special Project may assist other local groups in the Pacific depending on what happens in coming months.
CWS values its relationships with MWF and PWA and their commitment to fundraising for the life-giving work our partners do.
