Türkiye Syria Earthquake One Month On
CWS is grateful to our donors for supporting people affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake on February 6 local time. Local partners immediately opened churches and other buildings to people who had lost their homes. In northern Syria, the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and the Near East (GOPA-DERD) continues to provide food, health kits, medical services and psychosocial care to families, (pictured below).
In memory of Elizabeth Mackie
Partners and local supporters gave thanks for the life of Elizabeth Mackie, pictured below with former National Director Jill Hawkey on their visit to the Solomon Islands.
Hope Comes at Christmas
In Uganda, Caleb and his grandmother say thank you for their new rainwater tank and are praying for good rains. Caleb featured in the Christmas Appeal 2022. Please support the Christmas Appeal with your donation today.
Ukraine: One year later
ACT Alliance (Action by Churches Together) prepared a report on our joint efforts to assist people displaced by the conflict. Your donations supported the ACT Alliance appeal at first. More recently donations have been matched by a grant from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade for relief assistance and psychosocial support for refugees in Poland. We continue to pray for peace.

I’m One of the Lucky Women
Karalaini and Firoza (pictured below) are running successful village canteens from their homes in one of Fiji’s informal settlements. CWS wants to help more women start their own businesses. If you can, please make a donation to support the training and set up costs so other mothers can start a village canteen and put food on the table.
Seven Weeks of Prayer for Peace
We invite you to pray for peace through the season of Lent. This is an opportunity to join our colleagues at the Lutheran World Federation. Each week we post a prayer, short story and a slide for your church on our website. Follow the #7weeksforpeace.
More Food needed in East Africa
Late last year Hawa (pictured) fled her home in Somalia in search of food. She lost her cattle and goats to the drought that looks set to worsen. Donations to the East Africa Appeal will give people food and other support.
Thank you Peter
Last year, National Director Murray Overton thanked Rev. Peter Williams for his very special contribution to CWS.
